Unpacking - Placement

① Open the cardboard

Packed with two layers of bubble wrap for cushioning and a moisture-proof sheet.

➁Place the anti-slip sheet (gray side) down.

Wipe off any dust or debris from the floor and place the product on a smooth floor.

Please wipe from ③

In the manufacturing process of tatami mats, mud is first applied. Before using, please wipe it with a dry towel before using. (Mud will stick to the cloth, but it is not dirty.)
Do not rub it strongly or use a wet towel as it will damage the tatami.

④Layout method

Since it is a square standard, the layout is free. Please refer to the following and use them properly according to the number of sheets. (Layout reference drawing inserted)

⑤How to use

Feel free to sit or lie down on the tatami.
Avoid walking on tatami mats with shoes or footwear made of hard materials, and avoid placing heavy furniture on them.

⑥ Precautions for use

1. Tatami is a soft natural material that breathes. Please use it in a well-ventilated place as much as possible.

2. The color of the surface of the "tatami" made of rush will gradually change after a few days from delivery. (The color changes from light green to golden.) This is not because the product is deteriorating, but because it is naturally adapting to the product. Our rush is proud of its beauty after fading. Please enjoy the "tatami" that changes in luster and beauty, just like the four seasons in Japan.

3. Tatami doesn't like moisture.
Avoid hot and humid places. In case of high temperature and continuous rain, please adjust the humidity with an air conditioner.

⑦ Storage method

When storing tatami mats, put the front sides together and store them in a dry place with the back side (gray non-slip sheet side) facing outward.

[Regarding care for tatami mats]

how to clean

Vacuum along the tatami grain.
When wiping tatami mats, use a dry cloth along the grain of the tatami mats.
Wiping with a wet rag may lose the luster of the tatami, and rubbing it strongly may damage the surface.

If you spill water, etc.

Place a dry towel on it and absorb it well. Be careful not to rub too hard.

If you spill something with a strong smell, such as pet urine or kerosene, sprinkle flour or salt on it to absorb enough moisture, and then vacuum it.

About mold

Rush has a very good ability to absorb moisture. In particular, new tatami mats have a high capacity, and if the humidity is high for a long time, mold may grow.

Be careful when the following three conditions occur simultaneously.
1, the temperature is over 25 degrees
2. Humidity over 70%
3. It is nutritious for mold

The workaround is very simple. At least one of these measures should be taken to prevent this from happening.
1. Use an air conditioner to adjust the humidity and room temperature.
2, improve ventilation and eliminate air stagnation.
3. Vacuum once a week.
For new tatami mats, please keep these three things in mind.

However, if mold does grow

If mold does grow on it, you can continue to use it as usual if you take care of it following the steps below without rushing.

1. Suck it up with a vacuum cleaner
2, Wipe the surface of the tatami mat with an alcohol sanitizing sheet.
3. Adjust the humidity and temperature with an air conditioner, etc.
